I also grew a lot of asparagus. The recommendation is to plant 1 year crowns (it will look like daylily crowns). The 'Jersey' types are best, because they are male plants and won't produce berries, though all I could find here was 'Martha Washington' which is a female plant. Anyway, you can harvest lightly the year after you plant, and then harvest fully on the 2nd year. This is to help the plant get well-established. Asparagus will produce for many years...even 20-25 if I remember correctly. Here's a good site for things like that:

On my blueberries, I picked Climax, Tifblue, and there's another one out there I can't remember. You will need to plant 'rabbiteye' blueberries, and NOT highbush blueberries, which is what is grown up North. Rabbiteyes do very well in the South. Most nurseries carry the rabbiteye, but most mailorder and tractor stores carry the highbush varieties.
My blackberries are also thornless and 'upright' varieties. I have Arapaho and Navajo, and a thorned variety called Rosenborough, I think. The Arapaho/Navajo make a lovely big berry and the plants are huge. In fact, today, I will be trimming mine to make a more manageable hedge-like state. They are now in their second year, though.
